Lim Min Bee (Bee)

Registered Play Therapist

Bee is a dedicated Therapeutic Play Practitioner who walks alongside children and families on their unique journeys of growth and healing. She supports children aged 4–13 as they navigate life’s tumbles, including anxiety, grief, social challenges, family changes, traumatic events, and emotional regulation. Serving as a steady, trusted companion, she provides a gentle, child-led therapeutic space—a safe harbour where children can explore their biggest feelings without judgment. Her practice is rooted in the core belief that every child possesses incredible potential and the inherent inner resources needed to thrive.

Grounded in the power of non-directive play, Bee honours each child’s individual pace and follows their lead. She understands that children often “show” what they cannot yet say; play is their natural language of self-expression. In her playroom, children are invited to use an integrative toolkit—including sand play, art, clay, music, dance, storytelling and creative visualization—to process their challenges. This creative approach allows them to “unpack the invisible backpacks” of their worries or difficult experiences, piece by piece, in a way that feels safe and right for them.

To her clinical practice, Bee brings a high standard of care supported by a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and formal accreditation from Play Therapy International (PTI) and the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy (APAC, UK). Her expertise is further deepened by specialized accreditation in CBT for Anxiety and Suicide Prevention from the Beck Institute.

Her passion for children’s well-being extends deep into the community through her active role with the NGO Malaysian Paediatric Palliative Care (MAPPAC) and her regular art and craft initiatives for children in government hospitals. Beyond the playroom, Bee co-designed and produced the children’s illustration book Doremi and C Nugget, a creative project dedicated to supporting the emotional well-being of children battling cancer.

Play Therapy Room
What is Play Therapy?

Play therapy is a specialized form of counselling and psychotherapy designed for children typically aged 4 to 13. While adults talk through their problems, children use play as their natural language. In our dedicated playroom, your child uses toys, art, and storytelling to speak about things they may not have the words for yet.

How It Helps
In a safe, therapeutic environment, a trained therapist helps your child:

  • Process Big Emotions: Work through feelings like anxiety, anger, or sadness.

  • Develop Coping Tools: Build resilience and learn how to handle difficult situations.

  • Improve Social Skills: Practice empathy and better communication with others.

  • Resolve Trauma: Gently navigate difficult life events (like a move, loss, or family change).

Is it right for my child?

If you have noticed persistent changes in your child’s mood, behavior, or social confidence, play therapy offers a space for them to heal and grow. Every child is unique—the best way to start is with an initial consultation where we can discuss your family’s specific need.

Is Play Therapy Right for Your Child?

Play therapy can provide support for children who is experiencing the following:

  • Anxiety, fears, or worries
  • Low confidence or self-esteem
  • Difficulty with emotional regulation
  • Family changes (e.g., divorce, new sibling)
  • Grief and loss
  • Traumatic events
  • Social challenges or withdrawal
  • Anger or temper tantrums
  • Hyperactive
  • Extreme Academic Stress
  • Gadget Addiction

The Play Therapy Journey

Initial Parent Consultation:

Every journey begins with understanding. This session is dedicated to parents only, providing a safe space to share your concerns and your child’s history. We will discuss your child’s social and emotional development and family background. During this time, I will provide an overview of how play therapy works and what you can expect as we move forward together.

The Therapeutic Process (12 Sessions):

Children often express themselves better through play than through words. While every child is unique, a series of 12 sessions is typically recommended to see meaningful progress.

  • Duration: Each session lasts 40–50 minutes.
  • Approach: I use a blend of talk, art, and play therapy. This allows your child to process complex emotions in their own “language,” helping them work toward the therapeutic goals we have set collaboratively.

Mid-Point Progress Review:

Communication is key to your child’s success. Around the 6th session, we will meet for a follow-up interview. This session is dedicated to parents only, provide an opportunity for us to discuss the changes you are seeing at home and for me to share insights into your child’s progress in the playroom.

Transition & Closing Review:

As we approach the 12th session, we will meet to reflect on the journey. We will review the goals achieved and discuss practical strategies and activities you can continue at home to support your child’s ongoing growth.
