Work with Mr. Charlie.
Mr. Charlie is the main professional for our addiction therapy service. Individual sessions provide space to discuss your experience, understand the patterns around substance use and work on practical steps towards recovery.
Your goals, readiness for change and support needs guide the focus of therapy.

You can ask for help at any stage.
You may be questioning your substance use, preparing to stop, rebuilding after a setback or looking for support to maintain recovery. Therapy starts with understanding where you are now.
- ✓ Urges or cravings feel difficult to manage
- ✓ Using substances to cope with stress or difficult feelings
- ✓ Use is affecting relationships, work, finances or wellbeing
- ✓ Repeated attempts to stop or cut down have been difficult
- ✓ Concern about returning to use after a period of recovery
- ✓ Wanting a clearer plan and support for lasting change
Different tools, working together.
Recovery can involve thoughts, beliefs, habits, emotions and the environment around you. The approaches below offer different ways to understand those patterns and support change. Your therapy plan is guided by assessment and your needs.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Notice thoughts that trigger urges or use, test unhelpful assumptions and practise more balanced ways of thinking. Build coping skills for situations that feel difficult.
Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT)
Explore rigid beliefs such as “I cannot stand this discomfort.” Work towards more flexible beliefs that support coping, responsibility and healthier choices.
Transtheoretical Model
Understand your current stage of change—from not feeling ready, to considering change, preparing, taking action and maintaining progress. Plan steps that fit where you are.
Abstinence planning
When abstinence is your agreed goal, develop a clear plan for avoiding triggers, preparing for high-risk situations, using coping strategies and building a supportive environment.
Relapse prevention
Recognise early warning signs, prepare for cravings and high-risk situations, and decide what to do if a lapse occurs. Review setbacks and adjust the plan rather than giving up.
12-step programmes
Explore how a 12-step framework may support honesty, self-awareness, responsibility and ongoing recovery. Its spiritual elements can be discussed in relation to your own beliefs and preferences.
Sobriety sponsors & meetings
Discuss how suitable peer meetings and support from an experienced sponsor may complement therapy through encouragement, shared experience and accountability. Availability and suitability can be explored with Mr. Charlie.
Understanding comes first.
The first session is a 90-minute assessment, priced at RM360. You can share what brings you here and what you hope will change.
You do not need to arrive with a complete recovery plan. If you feel unsure about change, that is something we can talk through.
- 1
Understand your experience
Explore your pattern of use, triggers, attempts to change, strengths and the impact on daily life.
- 2
Consider your support needs
Discuss your wellbeing, readiness for change, available support and whether medical assessment or other care may be needed.
- 3
Agree on a direction
Set initial goals and discuss suitable therapy approaches, practical steps and follow-up arrangements.
Change is a process. Progress takes time.
You may feel ready for action, or you may still be weighing up what change would mean. We help you understand your stage of change and identify a manageable next step.
Recovery is not always a straight line. A return to use is a reason to revisit your support and treatment plan. It does not erase the work you have already done.
Counselling and medical care may work together.
This service provides individual therapy. Medical withdrawal management, medication or residential care may also be needed, depending on your situation. Your assessment helps identify suitable next steps.
If you may be physically dependent on alcohol, seek medical advice before stopping suddenly. Alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous. For severe withdrawal symptoms, a suspected overdose or immediate danger, seek emergency medical help or call 999.
A clearer starting point.
How much does addiction therapy cost?
The first individual assessment is RM360 for 90 minutes (1½ hours). Subsequent individual sessions are RM240 for 60 minutes (1 hour).
Do I have to feel completely ready to change?
No. You can come while feeling uncertain. We can explore what matters to you, your concerns about change and what a realistic next step might look like.
What happens if I return to using?
Let your therapist know so you can review what happened, identify risks and adjust your plan. A lapse or relapse may also mean that additional or different care is needed.
Will my sessions be confidential?
Your counsellor will explain confidentiality and its limits at the beginning, including circumstances involving serious safety concerns or legal obligations. You can ask questions before deciding what to share.
Do I have to join a 12-step programme?
Peer support and 12-step programmes are options that can be discussed as part of a wider recovery plan. Suitability, your preferences and the type of support you need guide the discussion.
Is this a detox or rehabilitation programme?
This is an individual therapy service. If medical withdrawal care, medication or a more intensive treatment setting is needed, we will discuss appropriate next steps.
What should I prepare for the first session?
Think about what concerns you, what you would like to change and any treatment or support you have tried. If you take medication or have received medical care, bring relevant information if available. You do not need to prepare a perfect explanation.
